Ype de Jong, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. de Jong attended medical school at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and conducted his Ph.D. research on the immunopathogenesis of murine colitis in the laboratory of Dr. Cox Terhorst at the Beth Israel Deaconess in Boston. After graduation from medical school in 2003, he studied cutaneous leishmaniasis in Kabul, Afghanistan through the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. In 2004 he started residency in internal medicine at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, followed by a gastroenterology fellowship at the same institution. At present he remains a gastroenterology fellow, and is concurrently a visiting clinical scholar at the Center for the Study of Hepatitis C. His interests lie in the immunological responses to HCV infection.
