Preparation of Brain Polyribosomes
We are interested in whether neuronal RNA binding proteins may play a role in translational regulation in the brain. This work has been stimulated by our studies of the FMRP mental retardation protein. Our studies here led to development of a method to prepare clean polyribosomes from mouse brain (Stefani G, Fraser CE, Darnell JC, Darnell RB. J Neurosci 2004 Aug 18; 24(33):7272-6), allowing the conclusion that FMRP is polyribosome associated in the brain.
