Lab Members
Hans-Heinrich Hoffmann, Ph.D.
Postdoctoral Associate
Dr. Hoffmann received his Ph.D. in 2010 from the Freie Universitaet Berlin, Germany. During his doctoral studies in the laboratory of Dr. Peter Palese (Mount Sinai School of Medicine, US) he developed a high-throughput screen assay for the identification of small molecular weight compounds that interfere with the influenza virus life cycle. His work characterized influenza virus specific inhibitors but also broad-spectrum antivirals that target host cell proteins such as vacuolar-type H+-ATPase (V-ATPase) and dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH). Since joining the Center for the Study of Hepatitis C in January 2011, Dr. Hoffmann has been studying hepatitis C viruses resistant to direct-acting antivirals (DAA).
