Yingpu Yu received his Ph.D degree in 2010 at State University of New York, Downstate State Medical Center. During his Ph.D. studies, he focused on the interactions of translation initiation factors with the ribosome and picornavirus Internal Ribosomal Entry Segment (IRES)-RNA structure that loads ribosome into its middle domain. His current area of research has been studying the pattern of gene profiles of host cells during HCV infection and the translation initiation mechanism on HCV since he joined the lab in January 2011.
