LABORATORY OF VIROLOGY AND INFECTIOUS DISEASE

Dr. Billerbeck received her PhD from the Albert-Ludwigs-University, Freiburg, Germany in 2009. During her doctoral studies in the laboratory of Dr. Robert Thimme she investigated the role of human CD8+ regulatory T cells and IL-17 producing T cells in chronic HCV infection. Her thesis work contributed to the identification of a novel human CD8+ T cell lineage. Since joining the Center for the Study of Hepatitis C in July 2009 her research has focused on antiviral immune responses in humanized mice and on host-virus interactions. Dr. Billerbeck is the recipient of a postdoctoral fellowship from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG).
