Many photoreceptors and intermediates in light signal transduction in plants (e.g. COP1), accumulate in nuclear aggregates. Onion epidermal cells co-expressing the transgene products indicated were incubated for 14 hours in darkness followed by 3 hours irradiation with white light before their nuclei were photographed. Under these conditions, co-expression of YFP-COP1 and phyA-CFP caused co-localization of the two proteins in the same nuclear bodies.
